How do I change the sapphire crystal on my watch?
Sapphire glass is now the standard for modern watches: extremely scratch-resistant, transparent and durable. This is the best choice for effectively protecting the dial of a high-end watch. But before replacing it, it is important to fully understand its advantages and the steps to follow.

1. How to correctly measure your sapphire crystal?
The measurement must be accurate to 1/10th or 1/100th of a millimeter . An incorrect diameter will make assembly impossible.
- Always use a steel caliper (avoid plastic ones, which are less precise).
- Measure the inside diameter of the housing on the casing
- Repeat the measurement several times to be certain of the result.
- Check the glass support area (edge, seal, available thickness)
- Compare with the current glass if available
Tip: Note the exact measurement, for example 30.40 mm rather than 30 mm.
2. Replacing your sapphire crystal step by step
- Remove the bracelet to facilitate access
- Open the watch if necessary to push out the old glass
- Use a watchmaker's press with appropriate tips
- Remove the glass without forcing it from one side.
- Clean the housing (dust, old residue)
- Place the new glass and press down evenly.
- Check the alignment and support
- Check for leaks if necessary
If the glass is too tight or does not go in straight, do not force it: this often means that the measurement is not correct or that the model is not compatible.
When should you entrust the replacement to a watchmaker?
